So, i have my English final tomorrow, and i have to write a Critical essay ( among other things), but i have to write this based on a topic that i won't know until tomorrow, but i have to base it on one of the texts that we have covered this year. I chose Julius Caesar, and Now i have to"prepare" two characters for this essay ( i need quotes, supporting evidence, character sketch, and so on. As well...i can't take any paper into the exam, so i have to memorize the quotes/everything else)
But, the characters i have Chosen are Brutus and Marc Anthony, SO my question is:
What are some famous quotes in Julius Caesar said by, or said about Brutus and Marc Anthony that displays their Character?
Anthony words to Caesar in the presence of Brutus following Ceasar’s murder—
O, pardon famous quotes question everythingme, thou bleeding piece of earth,
That I am meek and gentle with these butchers!
Thou art the ruins of the noblest man
That ever lived in the tide of times.
Woe to the hand that shed this costly blood!
Over thy wounds now do I prophesy,--
Which, like dumb mouths, do ope their ruby lips,
To beg the voice and utterance of my tongue--
A curse shall light upon the limbs of men;
Domestic fury and fierce civil strife
Shall cumber all the parts of Italy;
Blood and destruction shall be so in use
And dreadful objects so familiar
That mothers shall but smile when they behold
Their infants quarter'd with the hands of war;
All pity choked with custom of fell deeds:
And Caesar's spirit, ranging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarfamous quotes question everythingch's voice
Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the dogs of war;
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial.
"Et tu, Brute?" - Julius Caesar
This is when he falls to his death. They are his last words to Brutus, his longtime friend. They mean "And you, Brutus?" He can't believe that his friend could betray him like that. I'm not sure about Marc Anthony, though.
If you need anymore information on that quote, I'm sure you can look it up online.
Hope this helps!
There is a famous speech by Antony which starts, "Friends, Romans, countrymen..." that is an excellent speech from that play
The most famous Caesar quote...."OUCH, stop...that hurts...UHHH...."
Nice Julius Caesar quotes collection. Thanks:)
